Gareth Bale, who has two handicaps in golf, has finally started his golf career playing at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which is underway from February 2 to February 5.
The tournament wrapped up with its first round on Thursday, where the footballer-turned-golfer, Gareth Bale, hit an amazing cart path shot.
At the press conference, the Welshman recalled his shot and said:
"I'm more worried about how I was there in the first place. So couldn't play it properly because there was a curb in front of me, and I, in my practice stroke, I hit the curb. So I was like, I have to really like dig it. Put it back in my stance and hit into the bank. So of course it was a lot of luck involved. But yeah, the shot, that I guess I tried to play and you need a bit of luck along the way."
He further added:
"I asked the cameraman. I walked up, I was like, did you get that? And he was like, 'I did.' I was like, 'yes.'"
Bale paired up with professional golfer Joseph Bramlett, who was also impressed with his shot and said:
"I didn't know where he hit it, and then I saw where he's taking his practice swings. And I was little concerned and the next thing I know, the ball is bouncing up through the rough and he's got about three and a half feet. He was like, Hey, I think I'll just pick it up. I was like, 'No, you got to finish that up-and-down.'"
While Bale said:
"He (Bramlett) was pretty much in for a par. So I was like, I'll pick it up and he made me putt it because he was like, this could be the greatest up-and-down."
Gareth Bale finally hit the ball and it went straight into the hole. He was happy with his performance and said:
"It was a great shot. I can't really say much more."
