Joel Dahmen talked about his all-time favorite golf club in a press conference at the Farmers Insurance Open on January 24. Dahmen is playing at the Farmers Insurance Open this week at the Torrey Pines South Course and the golfer is tied at T4 after the third round of competition.
Following the round, Dahmen was asked an off-beat question about his favorite club and the golfer shared that it was a Wilson and his grandfather cut it down for him that he kept it forever.
“I remember the first real club I had was a wooden -- you know, I don't know what it was, a Wilson or something. My grandpa cut it down for me and I had that thing forever. I don't know if it made the move with me to Arizona, but I just remember always having that thing everywhere and whacking whether it was a rock or a golf ball, doesn't matter."
He continued:
"Then I've had the same hybrid in place since 2011. I've had two different ones we bought after eBay, but that club has been in my bag for 13 years,” Dahmen said (via tee scripts).
In 2025, Dahmen carries a Ping G430 LST with a Mitsubishi Diamana TB 60 TX shaft, a Ping G430 Max 15° with a Project X HZRDUS Black 80 TX shaft, Ping Anser 20° with a Ping shaft, PXG 0317 ST (4i) and PXG 0211 ST (5i-PW) irons, Titleist Vokey Design SM10 wedges, Odyssey A.i. One Jailbird Mini DB putter with a SuperStroke Zenergy Pistol 2.0 grip and Titleist Pro V1x ball.
Joel Dahmen described his third round of play at the Farmers Insurance Open
Joel Dahmen stated that his third round went well and he performed quite impressively at Torrey Pines, where wind conditions baffled the golfers. He said:
“I played really well. I didn't -- I putted unbelievable yesterday. I didn't hit any bad putts, putts just didn't go in. I don't know exactly my stats but I had a lot of birdie chances through 11 holes, took advantage of a couple of them. But the back nine's still tough. You've got to get it in play and a couple bogeys, but it was nice to get one back on 17.”
Joel Dahmen scored 5 under in total after three rounds. Dahmen shot 69 in the first round with two birdies on the front nine and two on the back nine. He fired 72 in the second round with four birdies and four bogeys followed by a 70 in the third round with four birdies and two bogeys.
The American will play the fourth round of the Farmers Insurance Open along with K.H. Lee and Matti Schmid at 2 pm ET on the first tee of the Torrey Pines South Course.
