Denny McCarthy is playing in the BMW Championship at Castle Pines Golf Club in Castle Rock, Colorado. From there, McCarthy joined the latest episode of the Fore Play podcast to discuss a number of interesting topics.
One of the topics that has drawn the most attention from fans is McCarthy's revelation about the effects of alcohol on his game. According to McCarthy, his skills improve "after a drink or two".
That was part of what Denny McCarthy said:
"There's definitely a limit. I don't drink a ton when I play. But the handful of social rounds a year that I do play and drink. My ball striking feels like gets a little better after a drink or two." [1.43.16 onwards]
"If I keep having that, like, I get tired and loopy, and I'm just over the ball. But the putting is always going to be decent, it's never just going to totally go to f***ing shit."
Another topic Denny McCarthy discussed was the quality of his putting, which is among the best in the world. In this regard, he stated that he uses traditional methods to read the greens rather than modern tools such as the one known as "Aim Point".
McCarthy currently ranks first on the PGA Tour in putts per round (27.73) and third in "Stroke Gained: Putting" (0.698).
