Cameron Smith unveiled his plans to celebrate his team Ripper GC's win at the 2024 LIV Golf Team Championship. The all-Australian team won at the recently concluded season finale team championship event of the Saudi circuit. They scored 11-under to register an easy three-stroke victory over 4 Aces GC and Iron Heads GC.
During the press conference for the tournament, Captain Smith was asked about his celebration, to which the Aussie golfer shared his plans and revealed that they would have a "costume party" on Monday, September 23.
"It's a -- Mad Monday is a term we use in Australia for all the footy teams that exit the finals early or win," Cameron Smith said. "The day after they're done they generally will go up and dress up. It's a costume party tomorrow. I don't know what these guys will come as. It's all a surprise. It'll be a good day."
Ripper GC, featuring four Australian golfers - Smith, Lucas Herbert, Matt Jones, and Marc Leishman - performed fabulously in the final to win the tournament. Meanwhile, 4 Aces GC and Iron Heads tied for second place at 8-under, and Legion XIII settled in fourth place.
Stinger GC finished fifth, followed by Fireballs and Crushers GC, while HyFlyers tied for seventh place. Majesticks settled in ninth place, followed by Torque GC and Cleeks, with RangeGoats GC securing the 12th position.
Brooks Koepka's Smash GC struggled with its game and scored 12 over, finishing at the bottom of the leaderboard.
"Adelaide was pretty special" - Cameron Smith shares his favorite moment of the 2024 LIV Golf season
During the press conference for the 2024 LIV Golf Team Championship, Cameron Smith was asked about his favorite moment of the season. The Aussie said he enjoyed playing on his home ground and also mentioned his outing in Singapore.
Speaking of his favorite moment of the season, Smith said (via ASAP Sports):
"I'd probably agree with Herby. I think Adelaide was pretty special. I think it was really special again to back it up in Singapore, especially coming off such a big week for us, lots of commitments, lots of media. It's a very draining week, and then to go there in Singapore where it's so hot and there's a lot taken out of you and win again I think was pretty good."
The Adelaide event was special for Smith as it was held in his country. He was close to a victory in Singapore but narrowly missed the title and finished in a tie for second place.
Cameron Smith didn't win a tournament on the LIV Golf circuit in 2024, but he was a runner-up in three events, including Hong Kong, Singapore, and the UK. He finished in seventh place in the individual season standings.
