Jim Furyk made his stance clear on Keegan Bradley as the captain of the 2025 Ryder Cup US team, amid a discussion on him possibly assisting the latter at next year's event. Bradley was the assistant captain for the US team at the 2024 Presidents Cup, which was led by Furyk. However, he was later replaced by Brandt Snedeker and he played for the team as one of the captain's picks.
Furyk spoke this week in an interview about next year's edition of the Ryder Cup. Furyk was asked for his thoughts on possibly assisting Bradley next year in New York. The 54-year-old golfer said he would do whatever Bradley wanted. He said (via Golfweek),
"I’ll do whatever Keegan wants. It’s his team. He’s got to make the decisions for who best follows him and either way, I’ve let him know that, you know, in one sense."
Furyk further said that he told Bradley he would liked to see the latter be an assistant captain at the 2024 Presidents Cup, to get a "good look behind the scenes." However, he was happy to see Bradley as part of the team as a player in the Presidents Cup. Furyk said,
"I really wish he was an assistant this year, because he would have got a really good look behind the scenes of what we’re doing. But I’m also happy for him as a player and glad that we got to pick him, and he had a heck of a week as well."
At the 2024 Presidents Cup, the Jim Furyk-led US team played phenomenally well and won the tournament. Apart from Furyk, the team consisted of Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay, Sahith Theegala, Keegan Bradley, Sam Burns, Tony Finau, Brian Harman, Russell Henley, and Max Homa.
Keegan Bradley reveals two of his vice captains for the 2025 Ryder Cup
Bradley is all excited to lead the US team at the 2025 Ryder Cup, and he has already announced two of his assistant captains for the team. He has appointed Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker to assist him at the biennial tournament next year.
In an official statement released by the Ryder Cup US team, Bradley said,
"As I’ve started preparing for the 2025 Ryder Cup, I quickly realized that Brandt was someone I wanted by my side. Having competed in two Ryder Cups, including a stellar individual performance in 2016, Brandt’s experience and insight will surely be beneficial to our team in the months ahead.”
The remaining assistant captains will be announced as the tournament approaches. The 2025 Ryder Cup will take place from September 26 to 28, 2025, at Bethpage Black in New York.
