Viktor Hovland talked about his toe fracture on January 3, 2025 after playing a round at The Sentry 2025. The 27-year-old professional athlete is competing at the event despite his injury issue.

The Norwegian has six professional wins on the Tour itself. On Thursday, Hovland teed off at the Kapalua Plantation Course for the PGA Tour season-opening The Sentry. The 2023 FedEx Cup winner scored 70 in his opening round. He finished the first day tied for 23rd place on the leaderboard. According to a post on X by Underdog Golf, Hovland told the media about his experience while playing.

"It’s a terror walking 18 holes. It’s a little different than having a cart the first two days. It's affecting how I walk, my lower back and quads. Through impact I'm not extending as well as I would like.”

Fans could spot Hovland practicing his shots without golf shoes and a swollen toe on the course before his tee time. Although he limped throughout the session, he tried to be cheerful. As reported by Yahoo Sports, the Norwegian talked about how his toe injury happened in detail in an interview earlier this week.

"It's the best one to break. I got up in the middle of the night and was going to turn down the lights and get ready for bed and I stubbed it on the bed frame. It happens. I think the walk is going to be the toughest part this week. The swing is feeling better and better."

Hovland scored six birdies on the 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 14th, and 15th holes in the opening round of The Sentry. Even with a broken toe, he did not refrain from participating in the PGA Tour event. He concluded his first round at 3-under par.
