Kieran Vincent and Scott Vincent are in the LIV Golf Promotions field this week, competing for a card for next season. Following the second round, both brothers are in the top three on the leaderboard. While Scott leads at 8-under, Kieran is two strokes behind.
Kieran debuted in the 2024 LIV season through last year's Promotions event but failed to capitalize on the opportunity, finishing 54th in the season standings. Scott Vincent, who has been playing on the circuit since its inception, finished 50th in this year's standings, forcing him to compete in the Promotions event.
During a post-round interview on Friday, the brothers were asked about their quest to rejoin the Saudi-backed circuit. When a reporter hailed them as "LIV Golf survivors," Scott Vincent responded that he wasn’t in control of it.
"Yeah, it's a unique way," Kieran Vincent chipped in. "We've done the journeyman kind of way of getting to LIV Golf, but that makes it so much sweeter being out there, being able to compete and just having that."
"Obviously the score worked out great today" - Scott Vincent and Kieran Vincent reflect on their first-day performance at LIV Golf Promotions
During the post-round interview, Scott Vincent accepted that he was quite nervous ahead of the LIV Golf Promotions.
"The thing for me today and kind of these past few weeks has just been practicing not having any needs," he said. "Like I don't need today to go well. I don't need it to work out the way I want it to. Just go and play golf. That was what I was working on all day today was just trying to get myself out of the way, get all the situations out of the way, the ifs and whats, and just go play golf.
"Obviously the score worked out great today, and I know it's not a magic formula, but that's kind of the approach I'm trying to take to tomorrow," he added.
Kiernan Vincent was also happy with his performance on Friday.
"It's obviously good to post that number and see that you got that in you, but unfortunately you wipe the slate clean and start again tomorrow," he said. "So fortunate enough to be in this situation previously, so yeah, we'll try and draw on some of that, try and conserve energy for tomorrow because it's a long day, action packed, so anything can happen."
The LIV Golf Promotions will conclude on Saturday, December 14, with a 36-hole shootout. The winner will get the contract for the 2025 season, while the top ten and ties will be exempt for the 2025 International Series on the Asian Tour.
