Xander Schauffele is gearing up to compete at the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. He is 1,936 points behind Scottie Scheffler on the FedExCup standings and a victory at the competition will earn him 2000.

Schauffele has had a terrific 2024 season with two wins. He won the last Major of the year, The Open Championship at Royal Troon in Scotland by two strokes over Justin Rose. He celebrated the victory with a cigar with his father, Stefan Schauffele. He posted a picture of him with his father and his caddie, Austin Kaiser, on Instagram and said in the caption:

"Open victory cigar with the boys (trophy emoji)"

In a press conference before the FedEx St. Jude Championship, Schauffele was asked how many cigars he smoked.

"I just smoked one. I smoked one with my dad," Xander Schauffele said.

Xander Schauffele was further asked which cigar it was. He said that the cigar was given to him by the owner of a blender shop he frequently visited during his college days at San Diego State University. He said:

"And the owner of it was actually out at Troon and gave, I think, my dad or Austin (Kaiser, Schauffele's caddie) cigars, and those were the ones that we had. Oddly enough, we didn't have any with us."

Schauffele was further asked why he didn't carry cigars with him. The World No. 2 said:

"It's a weird thing. You don't want to jinx yourself by bringing a lot and then you do bring it and it's awkward. There was a time I think when -- for one of the team events I had a bunch of cigars and we lost, and I was like, should I give them away or -- can't smoke them."

Schauffele finished tied at 24th in the 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship while he tied for 57th in 2022. He comes to TPC Southwind from a T9 finish at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
