That was part of what Jay Monahan said (via PGA Tour):

"We're bringing new perspectives onto our team to help us realize the incredible opportunities ahead for our sport, including launching a search for a CEO of the PGA Tour. We can learn so much from across the world of sport and entertainment, and I'm excited to meet candidates for this important new role." [2:14 - 2:32]

Monahan cited two other examples of the evolution of the Tour: the formation of the TGL and the creation of the Creators Council. In this regard, he said the following:

"We have TGL launching next month... a new tech-infused Golf League that will bring you the game's best in an entirely new environment..." [1:17]
"We've also recently announced the Creator Council, which is starting a dialogue with some of the most influential social media voices in golf about how we can more effectively engage with our next generation of fans." [1:47]

Another topic Monahan discussed in his message was the upcoming launch of PGA Tour Studios, an initiative by the tour to produce and broadcast its own audio-visual content. He also mentioned that they are working with the networks that broadcast tour events to modernize the way golf television is produced.

Jay Monahan's career at the helm of the PGA Tour

Jay Monahan began his association with golf management in 2002 when he joined IMG Worldwide and was named Tournament Director of the PGA Tour's Deutsche Bank Championship (later known as the Dell Technologies Championship).

A short time later (2008), Monahan started working directly with the tour as executive director of The Players Championship. Since then, he has progressively served as senior vice president for business development, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, deputy commissioner and COO until his appointment as commissioner in 2017.

During his tenure as Commissioner, Monahan has had to deal with several difficult situations, most notably the Covid-19 pandemic and the conflict over the creation of LIV Golf.

But it has also been a lucrative business for him. A Golfweek report citing 2023 tax returns claims that Monahan had an income of more than $23 million that year.

According to the report, Monahan had a base salary of more than $1.8 million, with more than $12 million in bonuses and incentives, $2.5 million in retirement benefits and more than $6.7 million in long-term incentives.
