PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan held a press conference on Wednesday, August 28, as part of the pre-tournament activities leading up to the TOUR Championship. Monahan discussed several topics, including one of the Tour's most ambitious plans for the 2025 season.
Josh Carpenter of the Sports Business Journal reported that according to Monahan, the Tour will have "new-look broadcasts" at some events in the fall season. Carpenter wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
"Jay Monahan says the tour will introduce new-look broadcasts for some events in the fall season. Traditional broadcast on a Thursday and a 'new look' on Fridays. No specifics…yet"
However, Monahan also stated that the new innovations were made possible by "PGA Tour Studios". Here is what he said (via PGA Tour News Service):
"We are elevating the experience for fans around the world,” Monahan said. “…I’m excited to share more innovations made possible by PGA TOUR Studios as the building comes online in January."
PGA Tour Studios has been in the planning stages for the past three years and is reportedly nearing completion. The facility will house the largest library of golf footage in the world and will be home to PGA Tour Live, with productions from the PGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions, and the Korn Ferry Tour.
Jay Monahan's PGA Tour Studios and World Feed
According to Jay Monahan, PGA Tour Studios will be up and running in January 2025, but a few weeks later it will launch one of its first high-profile services, World Feed. It will debut during the broadcast of The Players Championship.
This service will provide fans with customized coverage of events on the course. The idea is focused on international viewers, so international players will be prioritized with a customized graphics package and a dedicated international commentary team.
The circuit's plans, led by Jay Monahan, are for World Feed to continue to provide uninterrupted coverage of all events. By the FedEx Cup playoffs in 2025, World Feed is expected to be in place for all international media partners.
At that point, World Feed will include cameras set up specifically to cover the international stars, with reporters in the field.
Other topics discussed by Monahan at the press conference
During the press conference prior to the season-closing event (colloquially known as the "State of the Tour"), Monahan addressed several issues of importance to the circuit and the fans.
Monahan spoke about working with Strategic Sports Group (SSG) and the creation of PGA Tour Enterprises. In this regard, he assured that these are measures that have allowed for better development of the circuit.
"In SSG we’ve got true partners, and true advisors," he said (via PGA Tour News Service).
Monahan also praised the work of the Players Advisory Council, the emergence of new stars on the circuit like Nick Dunlap and Akshay Bhatia, and players' return to the winner's circle like Jhonattan Vegas.
