Jhonattan Vegas, the 39-year-old golfer from Venezuela, won his fourth PGA Tour title at the recently concluded 3M Open 2024. The PGA Tour event was held at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota.

The victory saw Vegas jump 235 spots from 321st to 86th on the Official World Golf Rankings. He is still more than 50 spots behind his personal best of 35th, which he achieved after his 2017 RBC Canadian Open victory. Owing to the latest jump, he surpassed the likes of Joaquin Niemann (114th), Jordan Spieth (100th), and Louis Oosthuizen (165th), among others.

The Venezuelan secured a $1,458,000 share of the tournament's $8.1 million prize purse. Additionally, he received 500 FedExCup points and also earned a Tour exemption until 2026. He also locked in spots at next year's Sentry Tournament of Champions, The PLAYERS Championship, Masters Tournament, and PGA Championship.

The win at the 3M Open 2024 was Vegas' fourth PGA Tour victory in what was his 299th career start. With a gain of 500 FedExCup points, he moved to 67th in the FedExCup standings with one tournament to go before the playoffs.

Max Greyserman, Matt Kuchar, and Taylor Pendrith also saw their rankings improve. Greyserman climbed from 126th to 76th following a runner-up finish at TPC Twin Cities, while Kuchar moved up from 125th to 96th after a T3 result. Taylor Pendrith jumped from 59th to 48th with a fifth-place finish.

Other notable jumps in the OWGR following the 3M Open include Maverick McNealy (88th to 73rd), Patrick Fishburn (198th to 161st), Matthew NeSmith (189th to 168th), and Samuel Bennett (227th to 197th).

A look at Jhonattan Vegas's performance in 2024

Jhonattan Vegas had been granted a Major Medical Extension due to elbow and shoulder injuries to maintain his PGA Tour card. However, his recent victory at the 3M Open 2024 renders the extension unnecessary.

Vegas struggled initially, missing six of his first ten cuts this season. However, he has since turned things around with a win and five top-25 finishes in 14 PGA Tour starts. He also has a top-25 finish in two DP World Tour events.
