Jhonattan Vegas won his fourth PGA Tour event,and his first since 2017, at the 3M Open on Sunday, July 28. The Venezuelan professional golfer shot a 70 in the final round and maintained his lead to win the PGA Tour event.
Following his victory, Vegas spoke with CBS Sports reporter Amanda Balionis and opened up about his win. Vegas revealed that he wasn't feeling "100 percent" ahead of the final round, but he still managed to make some good shots and secured a one-stroke victory over Max Greyserman. He celebrated his win with his family and was elated to see his children watch him triumph.
Speaking about his victory, Jhonattan Vegas (via Golf on CBS on X):
"It was very hard day for me. I wasn't feeling 100 per cent, which is something I have been battling for the past few weeks as well. So, it took a lot. It really makes a win the super special, especially how my little ones are here."
Jhonattan Vegas delivered an exemplary performance throughout the four rounds of the 2024 3M Open. He started the tournament with a fabulous round of 68. He carded one birdie and a triple bogey on the front nine of the first round and then four consecutive birdies from the tenth to the thirteenth holes.
Vegas finished the first round with seven birdies, one triple bogey, and a bogey for a 3-under 68. In the second round, he started with a birdie on the tenth, followed by a bogey on the eleventh. He shot one bogey and six birdies on the front nine and two bogeys and an eagle on the back nine for a 5-under 66.
He maintained his good form in the third round, shooting eight birdies for a bogey-free round and settling for an 8-under 63. Jhonattan Vegas finished the final round with three bogeys and four birdies for a 1-under 70.

With his victory at the 3M Open, Jhonattan Vegas broke his seven-year winless drought. He last won a tournament in 2017 at the RBC Canadian Open by defeating Charley Hoffman in a playoff.
Speaking about his win at the 3M Open, Vegas said (via AP News):
“We’re just trying to have a great week and obviously a great week turned into a win. I’m out of my head right now, so it’s incredible."
Jhonattan Vegas has been playing professionally since 2008. He has won six events so far in his career. His maiden win on the PGA Tour was recorded in 2011 at the Bob Hope Classic. He later won the RBC Canadian Open in 2016 and went on to defend the title in 2017.
