Jon Rahm makes the cover as LIV Golf makes big announcement on “the future” with $20.95B-worth media giant

Jon Rahm was featured front and center in LIV Golf and FOX Sports' announcement today. The media giant worth $20.95 billion (as per macrotrends.com) announced that it would be the television home for LIV events moving forward, and Rahm was at the forefront of their confirmation.

Weeks ago, reports surfaced that FOX was interested in grabbing LIV coverage. It worked out with their NFL schedule and they didn't have any ties to the PGA Tour. Now, it's official.

FOX and LIV shared a graphic saying that the "future of golf is here" and added several stars alongside Rahm like Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Sergio Garcia, and Dustin Johnson.

In the video promo, Phil Mickelson said:

"LIV Golf has a new teammate."

DeChambeau added that "the future of golf is on FOX" while Garcia, Koepka, and Johnson stoked the flames of excitement. This is a huge development for the golf tour which was first formed in late 2021 and took over two years to even land any television coverage.

They had to settle for the CW Network as their broadcasting home, supplementing that with live streams on a variety of apps and websites. They had trouble getting much traction in the TV industry, as the PGA Tour often outdid them in ratings. That struggle seems to be behind them officially as they've landed a deal with FOX moving forward.

LIV Golf has been building slowly since its formation. Even with the merger and the future uncertain, the tour has not stopped working towards the future. That now includes a multiyear deal with FOX Sports for exclusive broadcasting rights.

LIV CEO Scott O'Neil, who replaced the longstanding Greg Norman at the helm recently, said in a statement:

"We are thrilled to partner with FOX Sports, one of the preeminent broadcast networks in the world. LIV Golf is getting bigger and bolder, and this relationship signals the next phase of growth as our league joins the company of the nation's premier sports leagues and conferences."

He continued:

"I want to thank the FOX Sports team who share our vision for the future of golf, a new model that is redefining how the sport is experienced. LIV Golf is drawing a younger, more active and tech-savvy fan base, and as our players and teams prepare for LIV Golf's biggest season yet, this agreement will take our broadcast to new heights." FOX Sports executive Jordan Bazant added that the company is "excited to broadcast" the tournaments and noted that they'll be able to showcase athletes at "the top of their game." He also noted that LIV was a natural fit for FOX's existing sports coverage.
