Europe's Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald is known for his meticulous planning. However, his recent mischief against Tyrrell Hatton, while preparing his team for the 2025 Ryder Cup championship at Bethpage Black is catching attention. Recently, a post was shared by Flushing It on X highlighting Jordan Smith's conversion with Ben Parsons of Bunkered.

To prepare for the hostile environment his team will face in New York, Donald took the opportunity at the Team Cup in Abu Dhabi to introduce new tactics.

"They changed a few things with distraction tactics because we're going to New York. They had these big microphones and speakers on the first tee, baby noises, things going off, people shouting and coughing. Then when we got onto the 7th, which was a tough par three with water around it, they had an American guy there shouting all sorts at us. He was an American comedian," Jordan Smith revealed.

The comedian's move was to distract players from their game and get them used to the hostile environment they might face in New York. Tyrrell Hatton, a two-time Ryder Cup winner was apparently one of his main targets.

"He said to Tyrrell Hatton that he looks like a reborn Amish farmer because of his beard. He was trying to put everyone off, saying you're going to put it in the water, you're going to hit a s*** shot," Smith added.

Tyrrell Hatton is a seasoned Ryder Cup competitor and he will be determined to maintain his streak of automatic qualifications for Team Europe. Notably, Hatton has competed in three Ryder Cups, 2018, 2021, and 2023 helping to secure two wins for Europe. Currently, he's aiming to maintain his status in the 2025 season.

After Great Britain and Ireland's victory in the Team Cup in Abu Dhabi, Tyrrell Hatton talked about his desire to be a part of Luke Donald's team for the 2025 Ryder Cup that will take place in New York.

"I guess Luke [Donald] knows what I'm capable of, or the type of golf that I can produce. Yeah, my job is harder to automatically qualify for the team, but I have five events to do that. So yeah, I'm going to give it my best. And my last three Ryder cups, I've managed to automatically qualify and I'd love to keep that streak going," Hatton said.

The five events Tyrrell Hatton mentioned include the Hero Dubai Desert Classic in January and the four big majors of the 2025 season.

While his link to LIV Golf limits him from additional DP World Tour events, he is eager to make Team Europe's Ryder Cup roster. The 2025 Ryder Cup will take place at Bethpage Black in New York from September 26-28.
