American golfer Jordan Spieth is at Sedgefield Country Club to play in the 2024 Wyndham Championship. Spieth currently sits 63rd in the FedEx Cup standings, and needs a strong finish on the tour to solidify his playoff spot.

It has been a difficult year for Spieth, marked by a recurring injury to one of his wrists. Spieth talked about this during a pre-Wyndham Championship press conference and said he would look at recovery during off-season.

Here's what Jordan Spieth had to say (via TenGolf):

"It's not hurting, but subconsciously it's hard not to look at the numbers and think 'this isn't a coincidence.' so I've been taking trips out as well as being in contact with a lot of doctors, getting it scanned again and trying to figure out what the next move is."

He added:

"I'm probably going to have to do something about it this offseason so I'm going to pretend nothing's happening, fully trusted, given that I'll be able to get it fixed and I know there's a lot of golfers that have had similar situations and come back better than ever." [3:52 - 4:28]

Spieth has played 20 tournaments in the 2024 season, making 13 cuts. He has three top-10 finishes and his best result was a third-place finish at The Sentry.

How did Jordan Spieth injure his wrist?

Jordan Spieth has been dealing with problems in his left wrist since 2018. The first injury came during a weight training session at the gym. It was diagnosed as a bone chip. At the time, doctors recommended surgery in treatment.

Spieth decided not to go to the operating room and the injury eventually improved. However, the three-time major champion has suffered recurrences ever since.

In 2023, Spieth re-aggravated the injury two weeks before the PGA Championship. Despite doctors recommending strict rest, the player took only a week-long break and then teed off in the second major of the season.

Once again, the injury improved over time and Spieth was able to finish the season, even playing in the Ryder Cup. However, his wrist flared up again during the offseason, this time while he was preparing something in his kitchen at home.

Spieth's wrist injury has very much been a part of his 2024 season. The American's performance at the 2024 Masters was marred with quite a bit of pain. He will hope to find a long-term solution to the problem in the offseason this time.

Spieth began his professional career at the age of 19 in 2012. He has 16 career victories so far and 13 on the PGA Tour (three major championships). Spieth is one of the few active players missing just one of the four majors to complete the coveted career Grand Slam: he is yet to win the PGA Championship.
