Anna Davis won the 2022 Augusta National Women's Amateur Championship and will compete this year to defend her title. The young golfer quickly became a household name after winning the tournament, which started in 2019. She defeated Ingrid Lindblad and Latanna Stone by one stroke to clinch the trophy.

Davis is now preparing for this year's tournament, which is scheduled to start on March 29 and will continue till April 1.

The 17-year-old shared her experience of playing at the historic golf course in her interview reported by Golf Week. She said that it was a new experience for her, connecting with new people.

“I think in many ways. I’ve gotten to play in new tournaments; you know I played on tour for a few months," Davis said. "Just new experiences, in general, that I haven’t had before and building new connections on and off the golf course have been super cool. Getting to meet new people and all of it has changed for the better, for sure.”

Interestingly, the Augusta and Sage Valley tournaments are much the same and are held around the same time. It also helped Anna Davis in her game at Augusta. She went on to say:

“The whole vibe of Sage Valley is very much like Augusta, so I think that kind of helped me last year. This tournament is two weeks before Augusta and I think that helped last year, for sure, being in the same type of environment.”

Davis also talked about the mental aspects of the game and confessed that it's important to stay strong mentally while playing. She said:

“The mental aspect of the game, which is kind of overlooked a lot. Staying mentally strong when things go wrong or when you’re under pressure. I wouldn’t say it’s a simple golf course, but I’d say it’s simpler than people think. I had a good round that day and everything was spot on. So, I think that will help, knowing that I can play well out there.”
