The PGA Tour vs LIV match has been a surprise announcement recently, and Justin Rose is excited to watch it. The showdown will take place between Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy for the PGA Tour and Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau for the LIV Golf Series.
The PGA Tour vs LIV match is one that many are looking forward to, especially considering that the players are some of the best in the world. Between all of them, they have won 13 majors in the last decade and a half. Recently speaking to Sky Sports golf, Justin Rose talked about the need for the upcoming match:
"Give the people what they want. You know, I think that that's going to be compelling, good viewing. I think obviously four great names in the sport of golf for players that have obviously been huge in major championships in the last sort of 5-10 years. I think it's going to be exciting," he said.
The battle between PGA Tour and LIV Golf has been going on for three years now. With no conclusion to the merger agreement in sight, this match might provide fans with the entertainment they need and put pressure on both parties to reach an agreement.
"There's been a lot said about PGA Tour and LIV and, you know, listen, it's going to be fun and I think that that's a nice way of beginning to see everybody come back together, whatever that means, but also to compete against each other. I think it's a really compelling bit of TV," Rose further added.
The PGA Tour vs LIV match will be held in December in Las Vegas and will be airing on TNT. However, it will not be aired under the branding of 'the Match'.
Rory McIlroy excited to be a part of the PGA Tour vs LIV Match
After the announcement of the match, Rory McIlroy spoke about his feelings regarding the PGA Tour vs LIV match. Speaking via Golf.com, Rory McIlroy said:
“I’m thrilled to partner with Scottie in what promises to be an exciting duel against Bryson and Brooks in Vegas this December. This isn’t just a contest between some of golf’s major champions; it’s an event designed to energize the fans. We’re all here to put on a great show and contribute to a goodwill event that brings the best together again,” he said.
This is the first time that the PGA Tour and LIV Golf players will match up against each other. Apart from the Major Championship, neither set of golfers has interacted much in the last three years. According to "Golf Digest", the Match is expected to host somewhat of a Ryder Cup format.
