Justin Thomas took to his X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, June 26, to recommend the latest documentary of tennis legend Roger Federer to his fans. According to Thomas, the documentary is "inspiring."

Thomas, who has more than 757,000 followers on X, made his recommendation by posting the following text:

"Watched @rogerfederer doc last night… wow. Can’t recommend it enough to anybody thinking about watching it. Everything about him was/is inspiring. As an athlete and how he carries himself doing it. I (selfishly) enjoyed his @ROLEX collection throughout, too #RolexFamily"

The documentary recommended by Justin Thomas is titled 'Roger Federer: Twelve Final Days' and was released on June 20 on Prime Video. The documentary showcases the final 12 days of the Swiss' professional career as it traces his exceptional history in the sport.

The documentary was directed by Asif Kapadia, winner of the Oscar award in 2016 for his documentary Amy, about the life of singer Amy Winehouse.

It was initially conceived only to record Federer's last days in the sport, but not to be released. From there, the idea for the documentary which was finally released a few days ago was conceived.

Roger Federer enjoyed more than a two-decades-long career in professional tennis and is considered one of the greatest sportsmen in history. The former World No. 1 won 103 titles, 20 of which were Grand Slams.

Justin Thomas and his admiration for Roger Federer

It is not the first time Justin Thomas has expressed his admiration for Roger Federer's achievements. One of the most famous occasions occurred curiously also through X (formerly Twitter).

The event occurred in May 2018, when Thomas climbed to No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) after finishing T11 at The Players Championship. It just so happened that same week that Roger Federer also returned to the top spot in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings.

The detail did not go unnoticed, as it is not common for a golfer and a tennis player to become the top-ranked player in their respective sports in the same week. In fact, it had not happened for 18 years (Tiger Woods and Andre Agassi, July 1999).

Twitter account Greg Sharko, which covers the ATP, posted about it, noting this historic coincidence. Thomas reposted, expressing his happiness at being mentioned "in the same sentence" as Federer.

"Maybe the best compliment I’ve gotten being in the same sentence as @rogerfederer! #stud."

Thomas started that season ranked third in the OWGR. He reached No. 1 and stayed in that spot for five weeks. He then alternated between second and fourth in the world rankings for the rest of the season.
