Keegan Bradley clarifies expectations on Tiger Woods' involvement in the 2025 Ryder Cup

Keegan Bradley is playing at the 3M Open at the TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota. However, the fallout from his appointment as captain of the U.S. team for the Ryder Cup has not gone away, and there is also plenty of intrigue currently about the potential status of Tiger Woods for the prestigious tournament.

Reporters covering the 3M Open asked Keegan Bradley if Tiger Woods would be considered for the team, despite declining an invitation to helm it. Bradley stated that Woods would be "as involved" as he wanted to be.

This is part of what Keegan Bradley said (via Golf Digest):

"Yeah, I’ve told Tiger that I want him to be as involved as he wants to be. We didn’t — with the British Open going on, we’re not really chatting too much about that. We both have a job to do, and I don’t want to bother Tiger with that. I think in the coming months — we’re still 14 months out here, so we’ve got a long time."

Keegan Bradley has already taken his first steps as captain of the U.S. team for the 2025 Ryder Cup, appointing 2012 U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson as his vice-captain.

In addition to his responsibilities as captain, Keegan Bradley is seeking a spot on the team as a player. Bradley stated that he would only make the team if he won his spot on points, as he would not select himself with one of his captain's picks.

The U.S. Ryder Cup team is selected using a points system set by the captain. It generally has a few variations and points are assigned based on the players' earnings during the season.

Bradley has not yet announced the points system he will use, but in the season leading up to the Ryder Cup, only results at the four majors and the Players Championship are considered. As a result, the American ranking is already set until the start of the 2025 season.
