The 2023 Valspar Championship will tee off on Thursday, March 16, at the Copperhead Course in Florida. The 21st event of the 2022-2023 PGA Tour schedule, the Valspar Championship will have 144 players competing for the $8.1 million prize purse.

Taking place just weeks ahead of the Masters, the Valspar Championship misses many big names on the field. Top-ranked players like Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, and Rory McIlroy have all decided to use the week to rest. Meanwhile, players like Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Justin Rose, and defending champion Sam Burns are set to fight for the title.

Serving as the anchor for the PGA Tour’s four-week journey through the Sunshine State, the event has a decent following among fans. Ahead of the tournament, top betters and betting websites have dubbed Spieth and Thomas as favorites to win. However, the PGA Tour has announced its power rankings and it is Keegan Bradley who tops the list.

The 2023 Valspar Championship power rankings

According to PGA Tour experts, Keegan Bradley is the favorite for the 2023 Valspar Championship. Experts claim that Sam Burns only sits second to Bradley this week. Despite Bradley having only one top-30 finish in seven tries, the experts deem him fit for a strong outing this week. Sitting fourth in the FedEx Cup with a win, a second and a T5 among six top 25s, the 36-year-old US golfer may surprise many at the event.

As mentioned above, Sam Burns sits second in the power rankings. According to the experts, the 26-year-old golfer has a strong chance of making it three consecutive wins in the same tournament. If he manages the feat, Burns will become the first since Steve Stricker at the John Deere Classic from 2009 to 2011 to take the record. However, he will have to overcome players like Justin Thomas and Justin Rose for the same.

Adam Hadwin is another surprise entry on the PGA Tour’s power rankings for the 2023 Valspar Championship. According to the experts, the 35-year-old Canadian golfer’s “putting often overshadows his ball-striking” and is “exceptionally balanced at a high level.” Having won at Copperhead in 2017, the golfer will be eyeing a strong comeback this week. It is also pertinent to note that Hadwin managed a strong T13 finish last week at the Players Championship.

Denny McCarthy, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Suh, Brian Harman, and Matt Fitzpatrick are other top names in the PGA Tour experts’ power rankings. Despite having a strong field, it’s safe to say that all eyes will be on Sam Burns and his efforts to defend the title for a third consecutive time.
