Lauren Coughlin turned professional in 2016 and joined the LPGA Tour in 2018. Since then, she had come close to winning on several ocassions but coudln't get past the finishing line.
However, after four top-10 finishes this season, Coughlin has finally registered her maiden LPGA win at the 2024 CPKC Women's Open.
After her victory, Coughlin made an appearance on the "No Laying Up - Golf" podcast. She was asked if there was any added pressure to make the team for the upcoming Solheim Cup or whether it was about just winning the golf tournament today. She said in response:
"I'd say it probably crossed my mind just briefly, but I was able to brush it off. I mean, now I don't know. I mean, I think I'm going to be on the team now, but we'll see. So, I guess not official. Obviously, I'm extremely looking forward to that. I've gone up and played it three times now, and I think I might go play it again. [1:30:36]
"Alison Corpus is coming up, and then a couple other people, I think, are coming up, like the week before Scottish. So, we'll probably go see it a couple more times with them."
