Fans on social media have reacted to the delay in the resumption of the second round of the 2024 PGA Championship. The second Major of the year, which started on Thursday, May 16, has witnessed delays ahead of both rounds over the last two days. The first round was delayed due to fog, and then the second round on Friday started late after a fatal accident occurred outside the venue.
As the second round on Friday started late, not all players could complete their games, and it was supposed to resume at 7:15 a.m. ET on Saturday, May 18. However, the PGA Championship has officially announced that the tournament's resumption has been delayed again. They shared the news on their X account with the caption:
"UPDATE: Resumption of Round 2 has been delayed due to heavy fog."
Fans reacted in the comments section by sharing their opinions.
"Let's hope it's only fog causing the delay this time!" wrote a fan.
Some suggested that the PGA Championship shouldn't occur in May to avoid such delays.
"Stop playing the PGA in May, maybe," commented another fan.
Meanwhile, a fan took a jibe at the situation and wrote:
"Yall try arresting someone to see if that helps?"
It referenced Scottie Scheffler's arrest ahead of Friday's round. It is important to note that the World No. 1 golfer was arrested by police ahead of Friday's round at the gate of the Valhalla Golf Course.
Reportedly, he tried to speed while driving to the venue for his game, which allegedly injured a cop who tried to stop him. Scheffler was detained by police and sent to jail. He was later released and was able to make it to the game.
