LIV Golf has announced that it received several awards during the off-season recognizing various aspects of its management. The awards were presented to both the organization and one of its executives.
The awards received by LIV Golf highlight its commitment to educational and charitable initiatives as well as sustainability strategies, among other things.
World's Best Golf Event of the Year 2024 to LIV Golf Adelaide
LIV Golf Adelaide has won the World's Best Golf Event award for the second year running, presented by the World Golf Awards at the 11th annual World Golf Awards. Held at The Grange Golf Club, the event attracted more than 94,000 spectators and is considered by the circuit to be one of its biggest successes of the season.
Front Office Sports’ Most Impactful Award
The Greg Norman-led league received one of Front Office Sports media's 10 Most Impactful Awards. The award recognizes institutions that have used their influence for purposes beyond generating profits and growing their business.
Some of the aspects Front Office Sports recognized LIV Golf for include:
- Positively impacted the lives of 180,000 young people since 2023 through educational initiatives
- Free activations for youth in every event, focusing on golf skills, nature, sustainability, and STEM
- Supported more than 62 youth-focused charitable organizations globally in 2023
- Long-term partnerships with nonprofits in Mexico, Orlando, London, Miami, and Spain
- A sustainability strategy targeting a 50% emissions reduction from 2023 baseline by 2030
LIV Golf was honored along with the San Francisco 49ers, the New York Jets, the Detroit Pistons and the National Hockey League.
Sports Business Journal's Forty Under 40
League's Executive Vice President and Head of Team Business Operations, Katie O’Reilly, was named to the Sports Business Journal's "Forty under 40" list, Class of 2024. The list recognizes the 40 people under the age of 40 who have had the greatest impact on the development of sports.
O'Reilly was hired for the position in early 2024. She had previously worked for the National Basketball Association (NBA), IMG, Madison Square Garden and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Nomination for the Sports Business Awards 2024
The Sports Business Awards 2024 were launched in 2017 to recognize organizations, teams and individuals who excel in their roles. They are judged annually by a panel of chief executives from sports governing bodies.
The Adelaide tournament is among the nominees for Best Sports Event of the Year. This puts it in competition with the 2023 Ryder Cup, the EuroLeague Basketball Final Four, and the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, among others.
The Sports Business Awards 2024 consist of 19 categories, including Best Supporter for Women's Sport, Sustainability in Sports, Club of the Year, and Agency of The Year.
