“LIV Golf League comes to life in 2023” - Greg Norman overjoyed as European star joins LIV Golf

LIV Golf's biggest signing of the year happened on Monday after the announcement of World No. 35 Thomas Pieters joining the Saudi-backed league for the second season. Pieters will play alongside Talor Gooch and Harold Varner III for RangeGoats GC, who will be captained by Bubba Watson.

Former golfer Greg Norman is delighted with the latest addition.

"In less than a year, LIV Golf has reinvigorated the professional game and laid the foundation for the sport's future," said Norman. "In 2023, the LIV Golf League comes to life. The most popular sports in the world are team sports, and our league format has already begun to build connections with new audiences around the globe."

Apart from Pieters, Danny Lee and Brendan Steele will also play on the Saudi-backed circuit this season. PGA Tour rookie Dean Burmester also chose LIV Golf. A few days back, Mito Pereira and Sebastian Munoz were also announced as the new faces in the LIV.

“Major champions, current and future Hall of Famers, and up-and-coming stars are all committed to creating this new platform for world-class competition as the sport evolves for the next generation," Norman added.

This season, LIV will host 14 events with a purse size of $5 million each. Just like last year, this year will also have both individual and team events.

The first tournament will take place on February 24 at Mayakoba Golf Resort Mexico.
