Patrick Reed recently offered a golf-related tip to players to help them improve their game by hitting more accurate shots. The LIV Golf player discussed the importance of using an alignment rod on the range during practice sessions.

In a video posted by his LIV Golf team 4 Aces GC on Tuesday via X, Reed talked about a common mistake golfers make on the driving range. Wearing a green polo t-shirt, the American golfer said that many players focus solely on hitting balls without a proper alignment. Offering a tip to rectify this mistake, he said (via 4AcesGC on X):

"Your best friend needs to be an alignment rod, because when you have such an open field, it's very easy to get your alignment all messed up, and when you actually hit a good golf shot, but aimed incorrectly, you think that you made a poor golf swing, then you start getting into bad habits," Reed said (0:10 onwards).

He added if the players don't have an alignment rod, they can use their golf club as a substitute to align their aim.

"So what I always do is I always start with the alignment rod down, and I try to hit every shot I hit on the driving range with a rod down. And so for me, I always put it halfway in between. If you don't have an alignment rod, you always use a golf club and put it down and have the head out, obviously, and the grip side in," he added.

Patrick Reed said that alignment rods will not only ensure that every swing remains parallel to the target line but also aid golfers in identifying and correcting any tendency to hit the shot wayward.

The 34-year-old concluded by claiming that golfers with alignment rods would improve their golfing skill and achieve better scores on the greens.
