Phil Mickelson completed his 2024 Open Championship campaign at Royal Troon, playing his final round with Robert MacIntyre, who, despite having a poor finish, had an excellent time playing with his idol.

During the post-round press conference, the Scottish Open champion said that even though he had a terrible 2024 Open, it was a cool experience to walk the fairways with fellow left-handed golfer Phil Mickelson.

"To get to play with an idol, someone that you've shaped your golf game around. If it wasn't watching my dad play golf, it was watching Phil Mickelson play golf, and it was cool to walk the fairways with him, as well, and get chatting to him. It was just cool,'' MacIntyre said.

Mickelson has been an idol for plenty of left-handed golfers and is always friendly and approachable to youngsters. So it is no surprise that the left-handed duo had a great time playing together at the final round of the 2024 Open Championship at the Royal Troon Golf Club.

How did Phil Mickelson and Robert MacIntyre perform at the 2024 Open Championship?

Even though Robert MacIntyre and Phil Mickelson made the cut at the 2024 Open Championship, they never seemed to be in contention. They both remained in the middle half of the leaderboard and finished their rounds at T51 and T60, respectively.

Interestingly, MacIntyre scored better than Mickelson for the day and the event. The Scot carded +3 for the day and remained +9 for the event, while Mickelson remained +11 for the event and carded +5 for the day.

The conditions at Royal Troon were challenging all week, especially for left-handers. Hence, Phil and Robert failed to card an under-par round at the 2024 Open Championship.
