Tyrrell Hatton opens up about his performance in the Team Cup
Tyrrell Hatton had a remarkable outing at the Team Cup. For the Friday fourball matches, the LIV golfer teamed up with Tom McKibbin to play against Antoine Rozner and Julien Guerrier and won by 3&2. For the morning Saturday foursome matches, Hatton teamed up with Matt Wallace, and the match resulted in a tie against Thorbjorn Olesen and Niklas Norgaard.
Intriguingly, Hatton won the Saturday afternoon foursome match in the team with Wallace against Rasmus Hojgaard and Ramsus Neergaard-Petersen by 3&2. In the Sunday singles, Hatton registered a 3&1 win over Thorbjorn Olesen.
Following the match during the press conference, Hatton said, via ASAP Sports:
"I guess a little bit of a surprise in terms of how consistent I was. Sort of expecting to be rusty. In some ways, you have one eye next week on the Desert Classic, but overall, really pleased with how I played and really happy to contribute towards the team. It's been a fantastic week."
Hatton also spoke about his aim to auto-qualify for the Ryder Cup, saying:
"My job is harder to automatically qualify for the team but I have five events to do that. So yeah, I'm going to give it my best. And my last three Ryder Cups, I've managed to automatically qualify, and I'd love to keep that streak going."
As there is still time for the start of the next season of LIV Golf, Tyrrell Hatton is playing in the DP World Tour events. He is next scheduled to compete at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, which will take place from January 16 to 19 in Majlis.
