LIV golfer Sergio Garcia opened up on the fact that if he and the European Tour can reach an understanding, then he could be looking at a potential return to the DP World Tour. Garcia joined LIV Golf in 2022 and was aware that playing in the Saudi-backed league meant that his chances of being included in the 2025 Ryder Cup team were bleak.

Speaking to GolfMagic in an exclusive interview on October 10, Sergio Garcia commented on the possibility of making a return to the DP World Tour as well as the 2025 Ryder Cup team. The Spanish golfer's comments came two days after he had a chat with European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald about a possible return. Garcia revealed that if things got better in the DP World Tour, he could feature in some European Tour events.

“If things improve a little bit with the European Tour and the things that they ask for and the things that we are asking for get close, the decision is 99 percent. But if they don't make things a tiny bit easier, I'm giving up some things, but they also need to give up a few things," Sergio Garcia said.

Sergio Garcia last appeared at the LIV Golf Dallas in September, where he finished at T3, scoring 6 under 66. He also played at the LIV Golf Chicago and the LIV Golf Greenbrier, finishing at T2 and T8 with scores of 8 under 202 and 14 under 196, respectively.

Sergio Garcia sheds light on his 'extra sweet' 2024 LIV Golf season

During the same exclusive with GolfMagic, Sergio Garcia was asked to give his take on his LIV Golf season after he sealed a third place in the individual LIV standings, behind Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann. In response, Garcia claimed that the 2024 season turned out to be 'extra sweet' owing to his performances after 17th place and ninth place finishes in the 2023 and 2022 seasons, respectively.

“Yes definitely. I had a couple of solid years on LIV but this year was definitely extra sweet with the way I played all year. Obviously you can think oh I lost a couple of playoffs early in the year, but at the same time, the way I look at it was that I gave myself a lot of good chances to win,” Sergio Garcia said.
"Finished second three times, won, and had a few other top 10s. It's been a very solid year. Another good show in the majors, which obviously is super important to us as you know. To top it off but not just winning as an individual on home soil but to win as a team was the cherry on the cake,” he added.

Sergio Garcia won the LIV Golf Andalucia this year with 5 under 208.
