2-time Major winner Jon Rahm has announced his withdrawal from the 124th US Open Major at Pinehurst. The LIV golfer announced his decision via his social media. Rahm was seen hobbling at the LIV Golf event in Houston. He WD from the same tournament in hopes of keeping his US Open chances alive.

However, the Spanish golfer has revealed that he had a chat with the doctors and decided it is best, not to continue in this year’s third major.

He wrote on his X account:

“After consulting with numerous doctors and my team, I have decided it is best for my long term health, to withdraw from this weeks US Open Championship. To say I’m disappointed is a massive understatement!”

He continued,

“I wish all my peers the best of luck and want to thank all of the USGA staff, volunteers and community of Pinehurst for hosting and putting on what I’m sure will be an amazing championship! Hopefully I'll be back in action sooner than later!”

Rahm has not had the best returns in the 2 Majors this season since making the switch to LIV Golf. He finished T45 in the Augusta Masters this year whilst missing the cut at The Players Championship last month.

Jon Rahm injury: What has happened to the Spanish golfer?

LIV star Jon Rahm discussed his injury at the Press Conference on Tuesday. He stated he had little idea about how he picked up the injury.

Rahm said:

“If I were to show you, it’s a little hole in between my pinky toe and the next toe. I don’t know how or what happened, but it got infected. The pain was high.”

The Spaniard also revealed that he took an injection to play in the second round at Houston. Jon Rahm added the injection shot was supposed to last the entire day but he was in major pain after just the second hole.

He added,

“The infection was the worrisome part. The infection is now controlled, but there’s still swelling and there’s still pain.”

Rahm also appeared wearing a flip-flop in the press conference of the US Open. With his WD, Rahm now loses the shot of becoming the first LIV golfer to win a Major ever.

Can Jon Rahm roar back at 2024’s final Major?
