Nelly Korda lent her image for the official launch of the American women's golf team apparel for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The photos were unveiled on the LPGA Tour's social media profiles this Tuesday, August 6.
Fans have shared their opinions on the apparel. Reactions have been mixed, with some fans finding the wardrobe too flashy, and others saying they are big fans.
One fan reacted with the following post on X (formerly Twitter):
"Looks like Viktor Hovland designed the US outfits"
Another user posted the following:
"These go unreasonably hard"
Let's take a look at some other reactions on X:
"Honestly would’ve been better for the men if they had this design instead of the dumb stripe on the pants," one fan posted.
"Love Nelly, hate the drip. Who on the committee thought this was a good decision," another fan wrote.
"This fit goes insanely hard," another user said.
"Uhhhh need one of those jackets!! Love it," a fan posted.
Both the US women's and men's golf team apparel was designed by J. Lindeberg. Some of the apparel worn by both teams is available on the brand's online store.
Women's golf at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will begin on Wednesday, August 7, at the Albatross Course at Le Golf National. Nelly Korda will lead the American team, which will also include Lilia Vu and Rose Zhang.
Nelly Korda looks to repeat her Olympic title
Nelly Korda won Olympic gold at Tokyo 2021 in the midst of an LPGA Tour season during which she finished with 10 top-10s, including four wins (one major).
Three years later, Nelly Korda is back in the Olympic field after the best season of her career. Not only is Korda the top-ranked golfer in the world, but she is 4.32 average points ahead of second-ranked Lilia Vu. That is the same difference between Vu and Alison Lee, who is ranked 24th.
Korda has won six tournaments in the 2024 season, including five in a row. This includes one major championship:
- LPGA Drive On Championship
- FIR HILLS SERI PAK Championship
- Ford Championship presented by KCC
- T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards
- The Chevron Championship (Major)
- Mizuho Americas Open
Between her first and second wins, Nelly Korda famously took a seven-week vacation to spend time with her family. Her vacation included time in Prague, where her parents are from.
Korda's season has been so intense that she has won in both formats (stroke play and match play), both in playoffs and by large margins, and in rain, cold and heat. She also had the opportunity to win at her home course - the Bradenton Country Club.
The weeks leading up to the Olympics were not the easiest for Nelly Korda, who missed the cut at three consecutive tournaments, including two majors:
- U.S. Women's Open presented by Ally
- Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give
- KPMG Women's PGA Championship
But she got back on track and finished T26 in the Amundi Evian Championship, her last event before the Olympics.
