Billy Horschel has come out in support of West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen's defense amid his recent altercation with Wolverhampton Wanderers' Mario Lemina. He praised the soccer star for not letting anyone "disrespect" the team and teammates.

Horschel is an eight-time winner on the PGA Tour and was recently seen at the DP World Tour Championship. Besides being a brilliant golfer, he is also an ardent fan of West Ham United, one of the English Premier League teams.

On Monday, December 9, West Ham United's captain Jarrod Bowen and Wolverhampton Wanderers' captain got into a verbal and physical spat during the post-match handshake. Reacting to the incident's video on X, Horschel showered praise on Bowen.

"Love it! ❤️❤️. Jazz loves this club and everyone who supports it. Don’t know what was said but he won’t let anybody disrespect the club or teammates," Horschel wrote.

Speaking of the game, West Ham posted a 2-1 win over the Wanderers to record their fifth victory in 19 appearances so far this season. The first goal of the match came from Tomas Soucek, who converted a header from Jarrod Bowen's corner to take the lead. However, Matt Doherty scored the equalizer in the 69th minute with the help of Rayan Ait-Nouri's assist.

Three minutes later, Bowen scored West Ham's winning goal, moving them to 14th in the table.

A look at Billy Horschel's love affair with West Ham United

Billy Horschel has been following West Ham since 2005, the year the movie Green Street Hooligans was released. The movie's storyline was about West Ham United's rivalry with Millwall.

Since then, Billy Horschel has been an ardent fan of the EPL team, despite not every match being broadcast in the US. Over time, he has become friends with some of the club's notable figures, including former captain Mark Noble.

West Ham fans have also embraced Horschel as one of their own, which was visible during the 2021 Open Championship and BMW PGA Championship. During these events, fans chanted songs whenever he was teeing off. Later, Billy Horschel thanked the fans for their support.

"The support was unbelievable," he said, as per ESPN. "And then when I would sign autographs, take pictures, people would be like, 'Hey Billy, we love you. We love that you're supporting an English football club, we may be a Tottenham fan or we're an Arsenal fan or we support Man United.
"Whatever it may be, but they were so pleased that I was such a big fan and a supporter of the Premier League."

On the professional front, the 38-year-old golfer had a memorable season, securing two wins, including the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. On the PGA Tour, he had seven top-10 finishes, including a win at the Corales Puntacana Championship.
