Bryson DeChambeau has criticized the existing swing analysis models, stating that his speed wasn't tested by them. He added that the models had their own limitations and were only as good as the input given to them.

On Tuesday, May 18, DeChambeau carded a 4-under 67 in the third round of the PGA Championship to aggregate at 13-under. Currently placed at T4 and just two strokes back, he has kept himself in a good position ahead of the final round.

During the post-round press conference, DeChambeau raised questions about the equipment testing models. He said that the current robots didn't test the levels of someone like him or Jake Knapp, who are known to hit very far off the tee.

He added that these things are not tested on the robot and that FEA (Finite Element Analysis) has its own limitations.

"It's only as good as the inputs you give it," he continued. "And it's just a model in the computer. There's not enough information known right now, but I'm willing to go down that path and figure it out."

"He’s right in some ways. The FEA is only as good as the inputs. Is every product manufactured to the exact computer model tested? There’s always variation and dimensional tolerances involved. So many factors, he’s not saying anything groundbreaking," one fan commented.
"what even was the question? LMAO. He should get a PhD in mechanical engineering in golf clubs," another fan suggested.

"He’s such a nerd. It used to annoy me, but now I get it. He just doesn’t know how to be normal, and that’s ok. He isn’t trying to be something he isn’t. Most unique guy in the game now, for sure," this fan wrote.
"A person who knows how data, data models work. Keep being the scientist for the golf world," one fan opined.

"Playing well enough to give myself a chance" Bryson DeChambeau confident of his chances at PGA Championship

Bryson DeChambeau said that he has a good chance at the PGA Championship, as he sits just two strokes behind the lead:

"I'm not executing to the level that I know I can, but playing well enough to give myself a chance, obviously. Got to keep strategizing around this golf course and putting the golf ball in the right areas and miss it in the right place and hit a bunch of greens out here."

Bryson DeChambeau added that the iron play was the key to play but he felt he hadn't done his best so far. He's paired with Viktor Hovland for the Sunday finale. The duo will tee off at 2:15 pm ET on Sunday, May 19.
