The LPGA had to issue an apology on the first day of the Solheim Cup, as the tournament witnessed empty stands due to transportation troubles. However, a few minutes after the apology, the LPGA retracted the original statement and issued a new one.

The 19th edition of the Solheim Cup started on Friday, September 13, at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia. While anticipation was high among fans, they couldn't witness the action. Fans remained in queues for hours as shuttle buses from the public parking area faced problems.

Following the embarrassment, the LPGA took to social media to issue an apology.

"We have taken significant steps to address recent transportation issues in order to ensure a smoother experience for fans attending the remainder of the 2024 Solheim Cup," the statement read.

The LPGA announced that the gates would open on Saturday, September 14, at 5:30 a.m. ET, and local buses from Jiffy Lube would start at 4:30 a.m. to accommodate early arrivals.

The officials also announced that fans would receive four times the number of shuttle buses and would also get two free tickets.

However, the LPGA deleted the original post and made another one after some amendments. Although the new statement mentioned increasing shuttles, there was no reference to increasing them fourfold or giving fans two free tickets.

"We apologize again to any fans whose enjoyment of the event was impacted by transportation delays. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our fans and look forward to a great weekend of spirited competition," the statement read.

Team US takes early lead at the Solheim Cup

Team USA dominated the first day of the 2024 Solheim Cup and took a 6-2 lead over Team Europe.

Not much changed in the afternoon fourball session, as Europe could add just one more win. Korda and Megan Khang registered a 6&4 win over Georgia Hall and Leona Maguire. Rose Zhang, Sarah Schmelzel, and Lauren Coughlin were other players who went unbeaten on Day 1.
