Nelly Korda has won the 2024 Rolex Player of the Year award as the LPGA Tour moves towards its conclusion with just the final three events remaining. The 26-year-old golfer has won this award for the first time in her career, as she won six trophies in 14 starts on the tour so far and an additional three top-10 finishes (9-top-10s in total).
Since the inception of the award in 1966, Nelly Korda has become the 27th golfer to win this prestigious award.
Talking to the LPGA Tour, Korda said winning the Rolex Player of the Year means so much to her.
"Winning the Rolex Player of the Year means so much to me," said Korda. "This season has had its highs and challenges, and I'm just really grateful for the people around me who have helped me get here. It’s been a team effort, and I’m proud to share this moment with them."
The 26-year-old golfer has also secured the Rolex Annika Major award and will accept both these awards at the Rolex LPGA Awards on November 20th during the CME Group Tour Championship.
The 14-time LPGA Tour winner has earned $3.7 million this season and has registered the best season of her career.
Ayaka Furue was the only golfer in contention to catch up with Korda, provided she won the final four events of the LPGA Tour. However, Furue missed on winning the Toto Japan Classic last week, which was the fourth-last event, making Korda the winner of the 2024 Rolex Player of the Year.
