Nelly Korda was bitten by a dog recently, forcing her out of the LET tournament she was supposed to play in after. She was bitten by a stray dog outside a coffee shop, according to new details that have emerged thanks to another golfer who spoke with the World No. 1.

Korda didn't provide much information in her statement, just saying she was sorry for having to withdraw but that she needed time and medical attention to recover from the bite.

Alison Lee, another LPGA Tour star, filled in some of the details. Korda reached out to her because she'd been famously bitten by a dog years ago. In that case, it was her boyfriend's rescue dog and not an unfamiliar animal.

Via Golf Magic, she said:

"She asked me a lot about what my symptoms were when I got my dog bite. My dog bite got seriously infected, so I was actually hospitalized for three days."

She continued:

"But yeah, it's an unfortunate circumstance and definitely scary. She got bitten by a dog that she didn't know, it was just at a random coffee shop. I am hoping for a speedy recovery for her."

The dog bite for Korda came just a little while after she missed the cut at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship. For now, Korda is taking time off as is the LPGA Tour. The next scheduled tournament is the fourth Major of the season, the Evian Championship. That will take place one week from today.

Korda is also slated to represent her country at the 2024 Paris Olympics in early August, but it's unclear if this bite will affect her moving forward.

Nelly Korda doesn't set timeline for return

Nelly Korda issued a statement five days ago on her absence from the LET tournament she was supposed to play in. Other than that, she's been mostly silent regarding her health and future status.

She's the biggest female golfer in the world, and her status ahead of a Major and then the Olympics down the line is a hot topic. She posted on her Instagram story:

"I regret to announce that I must withdraw from next week's Ladies European Tour tournament in London. On Saturday in Seattle, I was bitten by a dog and need time to receive treatment and recover fully."

Korda continued:

"I apologize to the LET, the sponsors, and my fans for my absence. Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to returning to the course soon."

Nelly Korda simply stated that she was looking forward to coming back to play "soon" but stopped short of when that might actually be. She's still in the field for the Evian Championship for now.
