Golf Channel's anchor and reporter Todd Lewis recently revealed that Ludvig Aberg, who finished 16th at the 2024 Tour Championship, will undergo arthroscopic surgery. The tournament concluded on Sunday, 1 September at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. Aberg finished with a score of 12 under par.
The reporter said that the World No. 4 has been struggling with a torn meniscus since spring and the surgery will likely limit his 2024 schedule. He wrote on X:
"This week Ludvig Aberg will have arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee that has bothered him since Spring. Ludvig should be able to hit balls 3-4 weeks after the procedure. Likely to play again in 2024 on a limited schedule."
In May, Aberg withdrew from the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club due to left knee soreness. The next week at Valhalla, he wore a brace at the PGA Championship. Lewis later reported that Aberg had torn his meniscus during the Memorial Tournament while lifting in the gym.
As per Golf Magic, in the press conference at the Memorial Tournament, when asked about the injury, Aberg said:
"I think that's between me and my doctors. It is what it is. It's between me and my doctors."
Aberg didn't mention anything about the surgery at the Tour Championship. He was positioned fifth in the FedExCup rankings after the BMW Championship. He started at the Tour Championship with a score of 5 under. However, he struggled in the first round and carded even par 71 with four birdies against four bogeys.
The 24-year-old scored 68 and 68 in the second and third rounds and was positioned 10th in the rankings before the final round. He scored 1-under 70 in the final round with three birdies, on the 7th, 13th and 14th holes, and an eagle on par-4 eighth. He scored four bogeys on the 6th, 11th, 15th and 18th holes.
Without the advantage of starting strokes, Aberg finished with a score of 7-under 277 at the Tour Championship.
