Ludvig Åberg has given a thumbs-up to Torrey Pines amid reports of the Tiger Woods-hosted Genesis Invitational’s potential venue change due to wildfire concerns. He also mentioned that he loved the golf course and that it suited his play.
Åberg is in Torrey Pines, San Diego this week for the Farmers Insurance Open, which tees off on Wednesday, January 22. He is one of only two top-ten-ranked players in the field. Recently, several reports claimed that the Genesis Invitational was set to be shifted to San Diego from Pacific Palisades due to wildfire concerns.
On Tuesday, January 21, during the pre-event press conference of the Farmers Insurance Open, Ludvig Åberg was asked for his reaction to the potential venue change of Tiger Woods' hosted event.
"No pushback from me," he replied. "Bring it here, please."
The Swedish star also spoke positively about the Farmers Insurance Open, stating that it suited his game.
"First off, visually I love Torrey," he said. "It's so nice to be out here, and the weather's so nice and the air feels so crisp when you come out the doors. The golf course, I feel like I like it, it suits me."
"You need to drive it well, you need to hit it high to get into some of these greens and putt it well, so I like my chances when I'm playing at Torrey. That's one of the reasons why I had it circled on my calendar. It's a nice place to start the year and looking forward to keep it going," he added.
