Luke Clanton, the American amateur golfer, has had a successful season on the PGA Tour. With three top-10 finishes, Clanton has caught the eye of the golf world.

Following a 5th-place finish at the Wyndham Championship, Clanton flew out to play the US Amateur Golf Championship. However, he couldn't replicate his form from last week as he crashed out in the Round of 32.

Playing at the Hazeltine Golf Club, Clanton made the Round of 64 ranked 19th after a score of 3 under par. After finishing his first two rounds of golf, Clanton went on to beat Dylan McDermott 4 & 3.

However, he failed to register a win against Jackson Buchanan in the Round of 32. With that, Clanton's campaign at the US Amateur came to an end. Speaking about his performance in the Round of 32, Clanton said to SB Nation:

“I know him pretty well. It’s hard to go against one of your good buddies out here, but I told him God’s on his side. He’s doing great with everything. He’s super faithful towards Christ. We are both believers, so seeing him out there and for him to do that—I mean, no matter which way it went—was a great match. It was a lot of fun."

Luke Clanton is the first golfer to have finished in three top 10s on the PGA Tour as an amateur since Jack Nicklaus in 1961.

Luke Clanton ends PGA Tour season, looks forward to continuing junior year

Following the conclusion of the Wyndham Championship and his elimination from the US Amateur, Luke Clanton's 2024 PGA Tour season has come to an end. He will now begin preparing for his junior year at Florida State University.

Clanton spoke about his season this year and the valuable lessons that he learnt. He said (via Golf Week):

“I think I get a little bit too obsessed with it sometimes. I’ve got a great family, great girlfriend, great friends. Golf is just a game. You don’t have to be too hard on yourself all the time. But, you know, it was awesome, dude. This is like, what you train for to be in those positions. So it’s fun.”

Clanton made his debut on the PGA Tour at the 2024 US Open, where he made the cut and finished tied for 41st. His first top 10 of the year came at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, where he finished in 10th place.

Clanton then made a run for the win at the John Deere Classic, where he eventually ended up finishing tied for 2nd after a consistent performance. He also finished 5th at the recently concluded Wyndham Championship, his third top-10 on the Tour.
