Luke Donald believes that the TGL experience will have a positive impact on the European Ryder Cup team’s preparation. He mentioned that the pressure situations in TGL events will help the team prepare for similar scenarios at Bethpage.

On Tuesday, January 21, Luke Donald was present at the SoFi Center for TGL Match 3 between Atlanta Golf Club and New York Golf Club. During the event, he compared the pressure environment and the tech-infused league, suggesting that it would be beneficial for the European players.

"They gotta manage those distractions, you know, the countdown, the heartbeat, anything like that," he said. "They're gonna, on that first tee at Bethpage, they're gonna be feeling the heartbeat for real in there, so anytime they can get to experience a little bit of that, that's good for them."

Luke Donald is returning as the European Ryder Cup captain after the team's successful outing in 2023. Keegan Bradley will lead the United States and will look to avenge their loss from the previous edition.

The Ryder Cup 2025 will take place from September 25 to 28 at the Black Course in Bethpage State Park, Long Island, New York.

"We've streamlined that into one list now" - Luke Donald explains the change in European Ryder Cup team qualification

A couple of months ago, Luke Donald shed light on the current qualification process for the European Ryder Cup team. He mentioned that while there would be six automatic qualifiers, there had been a slight change.

"We've streamlined that into one list now, instead of two that it was previously," he said. "I think it makes it a little more simpler for fans and the viewers to understand."
"We made a few changes just because of the changing landscape in golf, and we wanted to create something that we thought would give us the strongest six, and then we have obviously six picks like we did last time to round out our team."

He praised the current qualification system, stating that it would provide the best and strongest field for this year's event.

Team Europe is looking for its sixth win in the past eight editions and its first away win in more than twelve years. For the uninitiated, their last away triumph came in 2012 when they posted a 14.5-13.5 win over the United States. As for Team USA, they have yet to win an away Ryder Cup since 1993.
