Lydia Ko had one of the best seasons of her career last year, with three victories on the LPGA Tour, including a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

However, she recently talked about her retirement plans and said she looks up to the former Mexican golfer Lorena Ochoa and wants to follow a similar pattern.

"Lorena Ochoa is somebody I really look up to. I always hoped that my career would be quite similar - and that I could do the same as her by retiring when I’m still playing well," Ko explained while talking to Golf Monthly.
"I don’t know when that moment is right now, although I’ve always said that I can’t see myself playing after I’m 30."

The New Zealand pro golfer is currently 27-years-old and is aiming to complete her career Grand Slam before retiring. Lydia Ko needs to win The US Women's Open and the Women's PGA Championship to complete her career Grand Slam.

"I got to spend three weeks back home in New Zealand at the end of 2024 for the first time in a few years, and it felt great. I really enjoyed not having to live out of a suitcase, and I want more of that - so the Grand Slam had better happen soon!" Ko concluded.

Ko has completed an Olympic medal slam as she has won bronze, silver, and gold at the women's stroke play golf event at the previous three Olympics and was also inducted into the LPGA Hall of Fame along with being made a Dame in the New Year's honors list in New Zealand for her services to golf.
