Bubba Watson is currently competing at the LIV Golf Greenbrier event. During the pre-round press conference, the 45-year-old revealed that people have made fun of Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods' drivers, asking if they could hit it straight.
"So we've made fun of Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods -- when people have made fun about them about their drivers if they could hit it straight. But if they could hit it straight they probably wouldn't be so good at the other stuff, right? They have won I think 44 and 82 times. So they are pretty good at their driver, you know," Watson said.
The RangeGoats GC skipper said this in defense of his teammate Peter Uihlein. Uihlein has struggled this season, especially with his tee shots. He has just 36.24% accuracy off the tee and is ranked 56th for the 2024 LIV Golf season.
However, Bubba Watson defended his teammate, saying his chipping and putting have always been phenomenal.
"We've seen it before throughout professional golf where guys are really good at certain areas but struggle with their driver or tee shots," Watson said and gave examples of Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods.
