Matt McCarty joins 50-year-old golfer in exclusive PGA Tour winners list after Black Desert Championship victory

On Sunday, October 13, Matt McCarty fired a 4-under 67 to win the Black Desert Championship by a three-stroke margin. With this feat, he joined Jason Gore as one of the few players to win three times on the Korn Ferry Tour and record a win on the PGA Tour in the same season.

McCarty entered the final round of the Black Desert Championship with a two-stroke lead. He continued his impressive performance on Sunday, picking up four birdies and an eagle. He finished at 23-under to register a three-shot win over Stephen Jaeger.

Before Matt McCarty, Jason Gore had achieved the feat of winning on the PGA Tour and three times on the Korn Ferry Tour in the same season. The 50-year-old golfer now plays on the Senior Tour.

"It means a lot to be the second person since 2005 to win three times on the Korn Ferry and get on Tour in the same year," McCarty said following his win. "To be able to make history and join Jason Gore in doing that."

"I talked to him on the phone a few weeks ago, so it's really cool to join that and put yourself in that category. It sure means a lot," he added.
