Max Homa announced that he'll be rooting for the Los Angeles Dodgers again on Saturday, October 26. The PGA Tour player is competing at the ZOZO Championship. The fifth FedExCup Fall event is being held at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Chiba, Japan.

However, despite competing in his own tournament, Homa is taking out enough time to watch baseball and support his favorite team, the Los Angeles Dodgers. The LA Dodgers are currently competing in the World Series against the New York Yankees. He took to X and wrote:

"Very happy I chose to root for the Dodgers and Freddie Freeman today. I’ve decided I will root for them again the next game!"

The Dodgers defeated the Yankees in the first game of the World Series by 6-3. The teams will face each other again on Saturday evening.

"I am in Japan (and tee off ten mins after first pitch) and won’t be able to watch on TV, but I still want u guys to know that I’ve decided to root for the Dodgers today. I hope they play really well," Max Homa wrote on X.

After three rounds, Homa has an aggregate score of 4-under 206 at the 2024 ZOZO Championship. He had a dismal first round, where he scored a 3-over 73 with three birdies against six bogeys.

Homa made a decent recovery in the second round and carded a 4-under 66. He scored birdies on the 3rd, 6th, 13th, and 16th holes. Homa then scored a 3-under 67 in the third round. He started the round on the back nine and scored two consecutive birdies on the 15th and 16th holes. On the front nine, he notched two more birdies on the 6th and 8th holes against a bogey on par-4 fourth.

The six-time PGA Tour winner is currently tied for 39th with the likes of Xander Schauffele, Tom Hoge, defending champion Collin Morikawa, Nick Taylor, and more. Homa is currently 13 shots behind the leaderboard leader Nico Echavarria. Justin Thomas is positioned second, while Max Greyserman is placed third.

In 21 starts on the PGA Tour this season, Max Homa has had three top-10 finishes and eight top-25 finishes. His last win came at the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open.

Max Homa grew up watching the New York Yankees

In a 2014 interview with Dodgers Insider, Max Homa said that he grew up watching the New York Yankees with his father. He later started supporting the Los Angeles Dodgers as he had always supported the Lakers, another LA-based baseball team.

During a press conference at the ZOZO Championship, Homa said:

"It's really cool being here. Obviously, we have two Japanese players on the (Los Angles) Dodgers that are tremendous. One of which is (Shohei) Ohtani, who is the best baseball player I've ever seen. So it's quite cool to come here, I've actually seen quite a few times LA hats.
"So it's quite neat to be in Japan when the best baseball player in the world is Japanese and you know, he is on the team I root for. So, it's kind of a dream scenario."

Max Homa said he hoped he could be home to attend a game or two, but is enjoying being at the ZOZO Championship.
