Max Homa won his first match on the last day of the 2024 Presidents Cup. The biennial tournament was held from Thursday, 26 September to Sunday, 29 September at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Quebec.

Homa competed against the International team's Mackenzie Hughes in the Sunday Singles match. He took the lead on the first hole with an eagle and went 1 Up. However, he gave the lead away on the fourth hole with a bogey. He scored another birdie on par-4 eighth. Next, he extended his lead with two more birdies on the 13th and 15th holes to 3 Up.

Hughes scored a birdie on the 16th hole but to no avail. Homa won the match on the 17th hole with a score of 2 & 1. After the match, he took to X and posted:

"Played with Mac today. Had a real Pan/Pam situation going on out there"

Homa drew a parallel between the comedic miscommunication in the movie Step Brothers and his playing with Mackenzie Hughes. The Adam McKay-directed movie starred Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. In the movie, Ferrell’s character Brennan gets confused about whether his interviewer's name is 'Pam' or 'Pan' due to his misunderstanding of pronunciation.

Homa was the last putt at the 2024 Presidents Cup. Talking about it in the post-tournament press conference, he said, via ASAP Sports:

"It's cool to go down as the last one on the golf course. It was a fun week. I felt very fortunate to be here. I was really happy with my game, really happy to get a point for the boys. But it was just fun to be a cheerleader the whole front nine today just watching everybody play."

Homa was the captain's pick at the tournament. There has been criticism on whether he should have been included in the team. He was asked if he had anything to prove this week. He said:

"No, I mean, I know a lot of people didn't think I should be on the team, but I think what I realized in the last week or so and especially being here is that the people that mattered did think I should be on the team."
"Obviously didn't get a point up until today, but went out there, played some really good golf, so I had a bit of a chip on my shoulder today," he added.
