Max Homa honors Los Angeles' firefighter with a special gesture at the Farmers Insurance Open 2025

Max Homa honored the Los Angeles firefighter department at the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open. Homa last played for Jupiter Links against Los Angeles GC in a TGL match on January 14, and his team lost. His next appearance was at the Farmers Insurance Open on Wednesday, January 22.

At the Torrey Pines South Course, Homa was spotted wearing a blue cap and white shoes with ‘LAFD’ inscribed. The abbreviation stood for Los Angeles Fire Department. PGA Tour’s X page shared a post about Homa’s grand gesture and wrote a caption that read:

“Los Angeles native @MaxHoma is supporting the LAFD on his shoes and hat this week.”

Homa paid this tribute because Los Angeles County faced a wildfire that resulted in an immediate evacuation on Wednesday and this time, it didn't destroy much. But earlier this month, when a similar scenario arose, around two dozen people were dead while 12000 structures were burnt.

After the first wildfire, Homa and his Jupiter Links teammates paid tribute at the Jupiter Links vs. Los Angeles Golf Club match. The words across his chest read:

“LA Strong.”

Homa also shared with the Palm Beach Post that it was an eerie feeling when the first wildfire took place.

“I know that these natural disasters happen far too often, however, this was the first one I can remember where every news clip, every time someone mentioned an area, I could picture it so well…It was very eerie,” Homa said.

Theegala also joined Homa in paying the tribute and the first wildfire destroyed the house of Theegala’s caddie’s sister, Carl Smith.
