Megan Khang is preparing for the Solheim Cup, and she has been asked what the feeling is around Team USA. They were unable to bring the trophy back to their mantle after a tie in 2023.

This time on home soil, Team USA is seemingly ready to earn a victory and extend their all-time lead over Europe. Khang said (via The Guardian):

“Some people have asked me what one word would be to describe Team USA this year and I’m just going to say ‘hungry’."

Khang went on to say that she and Nelly Korda, who have played the same amount of Solheim Cups, haven't gotten the job done in the past. She said:

“Kind of leaves not necessarily the best taste in your mouth. Luckily we didn’t have to wait two years. We have this year to get back at it and I can tell you now we’re more hungry than ever.”

The USA has won the Solheim Cup 10 times compared to Europe's seven wins. The United States has not won since 2017, so they're on a streak of leaving the trophy with their rivals. They have a team with the world number one on it, Korda, and several other talented golfers who are, as Megan Khang said, hungry to take back the crown.

Despite the recent success, European captain Suzann Pettersen doesn't feel favored over this USA side. She said:

“I think playing away, you’re always an underdog. I think that’s how we’ve always looked at it. If you look at the previous three Solheims, we’ve come out on the high side and we’re going to try and keep that going for sure."

Pettersen said that she's "happy" to let the Americans have the pressure as the home team this year.

Nelly Korda, the top-ranked golfer in the world, was surprised that the former president knew everyone's name on the team. She said (via The Guardian):

“He knew all of our names. He congratulated all of us on all of our success as well.”

Megan Khang added:

“It was just super cool to have a past president show up to team dinner," she said. "It’s pretty incredible he took time out of his day to come meet all of us. I know he plays out of here. The appreciation for the time he gave up to come to see us is incredible.”

Time will tell if the former president will have inspired the Americans to play well and defeat the Europeans in Virginia this week.
