Michael Collins recently said that he was once fired by a PGA Tour professional while on the course. He added that the caddying job was volatile, and there was no guarantee in it.

Collins is currently working as a host and analyst on ESPN. Before turning analyst, he had a career in caddying, where he also caddied former PGA Tour pro Daniel Chopra. However, the two had a bitter end to their professional relationship while on the course.

Michael Collins was recently on the Pardon My Take podcast, hosted by Dan Katz and PMT Commenter. During the podcast, he said that caddying wasn't as glamorous a job as people perceived it to be from the outside.

"It don't work like that," he said. "I got fired on a Thursday after the first round - there's no contracts, there's no guarantees for caddies out there. And you've got to pay all of your own expenses - airfare, hotel, rental car, food all of that stuff."

He added that if the caddie was with someone who was missing several cuts in a row, it used to become a bit difficult to manage the finances. The hosts then asked him to shed more light on the incident he had mentioned. He spoke about his three-month tenure with Chopra, which ended on a bitter note.

"I caddied for Daniel Chopra for like three months maybe, and at one point we were just not getting along," he said, as per Mirror. "So bad that I put the bag down in the middle of the tournament and was like 'do you wanna go right here, in front of everybody? I've gotta embarrass you in front of all of these people?'.
"When it got to its worst point ever - we were in Chicago and he shot six over and was in the locker room - he sent his wife, Samantha out because he didn't want to do it face to face. Maybe even scared. And she was like, 'We're going to make a change' and I was like 'yeah, it's probably a good idea'," he added.

How many players has Michael Collins caddied for?

Michael Collins began his career as a comedian, then took up a caddie job before switching to golf analysis. Collins had been a bagman for several players during his caddying career. Caddying for Robert Gamez was his first professional assignment. Then he carried the bag for Chris Couch at the 2003 Nationwide Tour Championship.

Michael Collins carried players' bags until 2011, but then decided to take up the job of an analyst. Over the years, he has worked for Sirius XM and ESPN. He hosts Out of Bounds with Pat Perez on Sirius XM and also has a show, America's Caddie, on ESPN+.
