Michael Thorbjornsen update: last minute WD from 2025 Sony Open

The 2025 Sony Open is all set to begin on January 9th at the Waialae Country Club. The tournament is set to feature some of the finest golfers competing on the PGA Tour.

American professional golfer Michael Thorbjornsen was also set to compete at this event. However, based on the latest report, it seems like Thorbjornsen won't be competing at the Sony Open. The PGA Tour announced on X that Thorbjornsen is a last-minute withdrawal from the tournament.

Lanto Griffin will be taking Thorbjornsen's place at the 2025 Sony Open. While the reason for his withdrawal is not specified, it's worth noting that he dealt with a knee injury throughout the FedEx Cup Fall season.

Michael Thorbjornsen might next play on the PGA Tour at The American Express. Griffin, on the other hand, will be playing his first tournament of the 2025 season in Hawaii. Last year, Griffin registered a T72 finish at the Sony Open.
