The NCAA has introduced four major changes to its college golf rankings for the 2024-25 season. These changes were made after receiving feedback from various groups, including consistent members across NCAA Divisions I, II and III, as well as representatives from NAIA and NJCAA programs.

According to the report, the NCAA has modified the ranking criteria for the season. The first change is that the points scale will be adjusted to allow for a gradual and regular distribution of points during events.

The weight given to match play, medal match play and dual match completion will be reduced, along with the weight for competition against out-of-division opponents. There will also be stricter limitations to minimize the impact of unusual results.

The existing ranking system, developed by Mark Broadie, has been a subject of debate as it was based on head-to-head stroke differentials. This approach has been somewhat confusing for coaches, who have used a head-to-head ranking system for over 30 years.

These changes will take effect when the new rankings are released on Wednesday, October 16.
