Nelly Korda has finally bounced back in the game after a period of struggle. The American golfer made the cut at the 2024 Amundi Evian Championship, marking her first cut in the last four starts. The World No. 1 had a tough time at the US Women's Open, where she missed the cut after posting rounds of 80 and 70.
She also missed the cut at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give and the KPMG Women's PGA Championship. However, Korda has now regained her form and performed well at the ongoing Amundi Evian Championship.
Following the third round of the Women's Major, the LPGA Tour player opened up about her performance and expressed happiness at making the cut "in a while." Korda hopes for a strong final round at the event on Sunday, July 14.
"Yeah, haven't made the cut in a while so feels nice to get to the weekend. Hopefully, as you said, it's moving day so hopefully be bit more aggressive and make some putts," Korda said (via Asap Sports).
Earlier in the 2024 LPGA Tour season, Nelly Korda started strongly with a tie for 16th place at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. She then went on an impressive streak, winning five consecutive events, starting with the LPGA Drive on Championship.
This was followed by victories at the FIR Hills Series PAK Championship, Ford Championship, T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards, and The Chevron Championship.
Korda also won the Mizuho Americas Open, marking her sixth win of the year. However, after this phenomenal start, she faced challenges in subsequent events, culminating in three consecutive missed cuts.
"But overall, par'd my way in"- Nelly Korda talks about her performance at The Amundi Evian Championship
Nelly Korda started her campaign at the 2024 Amundi Evian Championship with a round of 2-under 69. She recorded six birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey in the opening round to score 69. However, after a promising start, Korda struggled in the second round, managing just one birdie against two bogeys to card 1-under 72.
The second round was interrupted by rain, and players had to finish on Saturday before proceeding to the third round. Korda completed her final four holes of the second round on Saturday, finishing them with pars. She spoke about her performance with the media, stating (via Asap Sports):
"I knew I had two par-5s to finish, and it was colder in the morning so obviously the ball wasn't flying as far. Couldn't really take advantage of maybe if we played yesterday. But overall, par'd my way in."
Korda rebounded in the third round, posting three bogeys and four birdies for 70. The final round of the Evian Championship has already begun, and at the time of writing, Korda has played five holes. However, she had a challenging start, recording three bogeys and only one birdie.
